Volunteers needed

Without volunteers the institutional church would close its doors for good. As Christians we believe that all those who are called to follow Christ have a part to play in helping the Church become the Body of Christ here and now. If you are looking to volunteer your time and talents, there are a number of positions across our group of parishes that need people with specific skills. If you think you could do any of the positions listed below and would be interested in volunteering please contact Rev Chris at the Rectory. Contact details are across the page.

This position takes a couple of hours each month, to enter the monthly transactions onto a spread sheet and prepare simple accounts for the PCC at the end of the year. At present other volunteers pay the money into the bank and issue cheques but this could also become part of the role. If available you would be invited to PCC meetings to report on the current financial state of the accounts. The PCC meets 4 times a year.

Skills in simple book keeping whether on computer or paper are essential.

We need someone to help publicise the events that take place across our group of parishes throughout the year and to help us develop a tourist trail for those interested in visiting old churches. Two of the churches in our group are listed in Simon Jenkins book 'England's Thousand Best Churches' - Heckington & Swaton, and so we already get people seeking us out.

Good people skills and the confidence to liaise with local newspapers and radio stations is essential. The ability to produce posters & handouts and to get them to the right places to be seen or distributed would be helpful. Marketing skills would be useful too but not essential.

Help is needed to keep this website and other sites connected with our Group up dated with details of events that are coming up and news about what is happening across our Group of parishes.

Computer skills are essential and creative ideas to make and keep the websites relevant and useful.

There will soon be a number of positions available to help launch and maintain our new Friends Group for Heckington Church one of the 100 best churches architecturally in England. We will need help in a number of areas with developing a friends group so if you have any expertise in this area we would love to hear from you. Watch this space for future developments.
